Letter to Mother

Mother,

How are you today?

Things haven’t been the same

     since you went away.

Please don’t worry,

     I’m doing fine.

You’re much too busy,

     to even find the time.

So use your chemicals,

and take this to your grave.

The boys you left are men,

     you didn’t raise.

Mother,

Put that needle down,

the best thing for you is

     to leave this town.

No recollection,

or the smell of your perfume.

I took a piece of you,

the day I left the womb.

The poem was written back in 2015.

The photo is one I took of Kate Warrick in 2016- Edited with Lightroom
