City of El Paso
View From the Front Porch

in deep night

the wind rises fresh
from the east,

swells the curtain

a dog barks

the wind chime sounds
one perfect note

a mockingbird cries,
sings a song unrecognized,
from the fig tree

beyond the porch

in the outer dark

The poem was written back in 2009.
The photo is one I took at Rim Road in El Paso, Texas
